What if it rains?

This event will take place, rain or shine.

Is this one of those App Scavenger Hunts?

No, no apps involved! We created this one because we participated in an app one once and were....disappointed. We are a bunch of escape room loving geeks who wanted to create a more challenging type of scavenger hunt. You will be interacting with real actual humans(!), and while at least one person on your team will need a smartphone to possibly interact with one of the clues (and that's all I can say about that part), the scavenger hunt will rely on you to be observant and able to solve puzzles and put together clues you gather through various sources.

As this is a spy-themed event, and you are competing against other spies...you need to be fast and discrete. If your contact thinks you are being too obvious, they may go to ground and you'll miss your chance to get the info...or you may give away info to the other teams and allow them to follow you to the prize! It is all in how much stealth and skill you have compared to the other teams.

What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes.

Is this game accessible?

The event will involve walking, intermixed with possible time in a car (optional). While we try to ensure that all locations are accessible, the game takes place outside in downtown Troy, with teams determining which routes to take. Therefore, we cannot guarantee your route will be accessible to all.

Will I need a car?

Much or all of the event can be done on foot. Parking in the city is not always easy to find, so teams may consider walking from point to point the more efficient method. It is up to the teams to decide which option they walk, drive or do a mix of both.

Will I need a smart phone?

Yes, at least one person on the team will need a smart phone with access to the internet. You may also need a phone that can read a QR code.

Additionally, some information may come from your informants via texts or phone calls, so a working phone is a requirement.

How hard will this be?

Harder than your average scavenger hunt! The organizers are a group of puzzle-loving and escape room enthusiasts who were frustrated with how simple most citywide scavenger hunts are designed to be. So, they set forth to create one that would be more of a challenge. This is the first year of the event, so they are trying to strike a balance between challenging and doable.

Are minors allowed to participate?

All minors will have to have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver for them on the morning of the event during the morning registration process. No one will be allowed to participate without signing a waiver.

What if I need a refund?

During registration, you have the option to click “yes” for Purchase Protection. Any refunds will be provided through the Purchase Protection. Refunds will not come through the event organizers.

What happens if we don’t finish?

This is a timed event. Teams that do not finish within the allotted time will be given a DNF (Did Not Finish).

Can I take out other teams? All is fair in love and war, right?

While we encourage healthy competition, we frown upon unsportsmanlike behavior. Any team found to be exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior will be disqualified.
